Edward frequently appears in both the Magistrates’ and Crown Court, defending and prosecuting across all areas of criminal practice.
Magistrates’ and Youth Courts
He has extensive experience of the Magistrates’ and Youth Court, often representing clients in multi-day trials. He has been instructed in cases in the Youth Court involving serious violence. Edward enjoys working in cases involving young people and vulnerable clients. He has experience in defending clients, both adults and children, with profound mental health problems and learning difficulties, and his patient approach is appreciated by those he represents.
He takes pride in helping people feel more comfortable in the often frightening situations they encounter in the criminal justice system.
Edward is developing a busy Crown Court practice covering all areas of general crime.
As a Grade 2 CPS prosecutor, Edward regularly appears in the Crown Court on their behalf in appeals against conviction and sentence, committals for sentence and small trials.
He is developing experience prosecuting in the Crown Court across a wide range of matters, including violent and sexual offences as well as confiscation proceedings under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
Edward is developing a busy defence practice in the Crown Court. He has represented Appellants appealing convictions and sentences from the Magistrates’ Court. He is frequently instructed to advise on and settle grounds of appeal in these matters.
Edward also prosecutes on behalf of the National Probation Service in contested breach proceedings.
Edward is regularly instructed in privately paying driving cases, representing clients accused of drink/drug driving, speeding and careless/dangerous driving. He conducts these cases in both the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts, and is always happy to provide initial advice to clients in advance of their hearings.
