Company Director and Company Convicted of Health and Safety Offences

A company and its director were convicted following a week-long trial at Southampton Crown Court. At a property in Totton, a heavy cast iron soil stack fell away from the wall of the building just as a mother & her child were walking home from the nearby primary school. The child, a boy aged five, was struck & suffered significant injuries, including a fractured skull. The case was prosecuted by Syan Ventom, instructed by the Health & Safety Executive.
