Emma accepts instructions in all family law matters and has experience in both private and public law children disputes. She appears in respect of care, special guardianship and s8 proceedings and has represented local authorities, parents, grandparents and guardians.  Her experience includes cases involving domestic violence and resulting fact finding hearings; alcohol and drug abuse; mental health concerns including capacity; sexual and physical abuse including non accidental injuries, emotional harm and neglect.

Emma also appears and advises in respect of claims for ancillary relief; financial provision for children (Schedule 1); foreign divorce, cohabitants' property disputes, disclosure/PII matters and domestic violence injunctions as well as committal proceedings following alleged breaches.

Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND):

Emma accepts instructs to advise in relation to all matters concerning SEND as well as attending and representing clients at the First Tier Tribunal. Emma has undertaken a variety of SEND cases including appeals:

- relating to the identity of a school/institution named in an EHC Plan/Statement;

- concerning requests for EHC assessments;

- challenging the identified special educational needs and resulting provision required to meet said needs as documented in EHC plans/statements.

Cases undertaken to date have included oral evidence from various professionals comprising head teachers, SENCos, Speech and Language therapists, Occupational therapists and Educational Psychologists.

Housing Law:

Emma is a member of the Housing Team handling a wide range of cases including possession proceedings, gas safety injunctions and cases involving anti-social behaviour. She accepts instructions for Housing Associations, individuals and for a number of local authorities.
